Manson were appointed by Scotmid Co-operative in 2018 to provide planning and architectural services for the redevelopment of the existing Scotmid store on Leven Street, Edinburgh. The project includes a new Class 1 retail unit on the ground floor and eight flatted dwellings above the store with a mix of studios, one-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom maisonette.

Manson prepared and submitted an application for listed building consent and a detailed planning application, both of which were approved in August 2019 and the project commenced on site in November 2019.

A temporary store has been formed on the ground floor and Scotmid will remain trading throughout the construction process. Manson are proud to be working with Scotmid Co-operative on a prominent central site with such an interesting history. The original store was built in 1959 and was the first American-Style shopping experience in Edinburgh.
