The scheme included an 80,000 sq ft foodstore, multi-storey car parking, 900 student bedspaces, leisure space, retail units and public realm areas. The site is located immediately adjacent to the River Kelvin and is part of the Dumbarton Road and Partick shopping area.
One of the main design initiatives in the proposal was to maintain the public permeability along the new River Kelvin Walkway that would ultimately link through to the Glasgow Harbour masterplan. The scheme includes areas of public realm with south facing steps cascading down to the river.
This proposal offers excellent potential for regenerating the historical industrial banks of the Kelvin; safeguarding the area for future public use. The scheme currently has Detailed Planning Approval.
