Planning submitted for gateway site at City Wharf in Glasgow

Manson are the architects for a mixed use development which has recently been submitted for planning and is located on a very prominent site adjacent to the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow.

Designed for Dandara Living the new development will provide over 500 BTR flats and 490 student flats, with commercial and amenity space at ground and first floor.

The proposed design is for three separate blocks with a series of well-considered courtyard spaces between the buildings which promote connectivity to the adjacent sites and wider community. There is also a new urban park proposed which will create a strong buffer between the Kingston Bridge and development.

The block in closest proximity to the River Clyde is proposed to be a 27 storey tower with a viewing deck and residents lounge at the top floor which will act as a beacon and landmark within the City of Glasgow.

The key amenity spaces include a cycle hub and workshop, open plan gym, residents lounge, and co-working spaces with views onto the River Clyde.

Rachel Allwood, planning director of Dandara Living, said, “Following a series of public consultations we believe our new application offers a terrific opportunity to create a development that reflects its unique and highly visible location. It also helps address the local authority’s desire to double the number of people living in the city centre by 2035 and deliver much needed purpose built student accommodation, creating a more sustainable and vibrant city.”
